Iconically Philly
Oozing with goodness. Hot strips of top round meat is stuffed into a six or twelve inch roll then topped with a zestful layer of cheesy goodness. Viola! That makes Philadelphia's signature dish, the Philly cheesesteak. There's no better place to grab a bite of this filling meal than at Pat's King of Steaks or Geno's.
As iconic as the cheesesteak is to Philadelphia, there's more to this thriving city than just that. Sure there are the Rocky Steps that you can run up where you can pretend to be a fictional boxer as you practice your moves, but how about entering the Philadelphia Museum of Art that is located at the top of the steps? Renoir, van Gogh, Picasso, and Rodin inhabit the interior of this museum.
For a taste of history, check out the Independence National Historic Park which encompasses about 45 acres of land that is dotted by sites and relics from the American Revolution. View the Liberty Bell and imagine the sound of liberty it proclaimed, peruse Independence Hall where the Declaration of Independence was signed, and explore the brick structure called Carpenters' Hall where the First Continental Congress was held. There are over a dozen sights to be seen in the park.
Moving towards the present, there's Love Park. You can't miss this landmark with its big red sculpture reading LOVE located in Philadelphia's Center City. It was a skateboarders paradise because of its sleek design and even hosted the X-Games in 2001 and 2002. Shortly after the X-Games, skateboarding in Love Park was banned. Its still a wonderful place to chill out and take a break from work in Center City.
